It was a dark and stormy night. The old Chevy rumbled proudly through the blackened streets, and all was good in my world with another job well done. Then suddenly, a roll of thunder cracked and ...lightning filled...the engine compartment?
My oily glow faded. In a single electrical flash, the heart of a Chevy champion seized and 550 mighty horses sputtered and slowed to an Elmer's glue pace. The problem? Burnt ignition wires resulting in misfiring, electrical arcing, and a whole lot of horse down the dog food bag.
The following weeks left my head half bald and my ear fused to the phone. Boot protectors, header wrap, ceramic spark plug wire tipsÉthey all ended up in smoke-under the hood, that is. What's a good old American grease monkey to do?
